ANÁLISIS DEL ROL DE LOS DOCENTES UNIVERSITARIOS EN LOS PROCESOS DE ENSEÑANZA Y DE APRENDIZAJE DE LAS CIENCIAS NATURALES A TRAVÉS DEL USO DE INTERNET COMO HERRAMIENTA EDUCATIVA

Abstract

RESUMEN: Frente al uso de Internet en el ámbito educativo, los docentes deben estar conscientes el rol que pueden desempeñar. Este aspecto constituye el interés fundamental de esta investigación, enmarcada en el contexto universitario, específicamente, la Universidad de Oriente, Núcleo de Nueva Esparta. Para tal fin, se desarrolló una investigación de campo de carácter descriptivo, encuestando a veintiún docentes adscritos al Departamento de Ciencias de la Unidad de Estudios Básicos, con el propósito de analizar el rol de estos docentes en la enseñanza y el aprendizaje de las ciencias naturales a través de Internet. El análisis de los resultados se realizó considerando la condición laboral, académica y personal, sus habilidades y destrezas en el uso de Internet, el uso de Internet con fines educativos, la identificación de éstos con los diferentes roles, además, de sus expectativas. Es importante resaltar que el 71,43% de los docentes no han cursado asignaturas relacionadas con el uso de Internet en su formación académica, y las habilidades y destrezas en el manejo de Internet las obtuvieron por experiencia directa (66, 67%), manifestando no tener formación sobre el uso de este recurso con fines educativos (95,24%). La mayoría (76,19%) se identificó con el rol de facilitador. Se recomienda la incorporación de esta temática en los cursos de formación y actualización docentes. ABSTRACT: With the use of the Internet in the field of education, teachers must be aware of the role they can play. This is the fundamental interest of this research, framed in an university context, specifically, the Universidad de Oriente, Campus Nueva Esparta. To this purpose, it was developed a field investigation of a descriptive character, surveying 21 teachers assigned to the Department of Sciences, from the Basic Studies Unit, with the purpose of analyzing the role of these teachers in their teaching and learning activities of the natural sciences through Internet use. The analysis of the results was carried out considering, the teachers working conditions, academic tasks, personal status and staff, their abilities and skills in the use of Internet, teaching practices based on the use of the Internet for educational purposes, identifying them with the different roles and in addition, their expectations. It is noteworthy that 71,43% of teachers have not attended courses related to Internet use in their education, thus skills and abilities in managing the Internet were obtained by direct experience (66, 67%), manifesting and the vast majority reported not having received training on the Internet use for educational purposes (95,24%). Most reachers (76,19%) identified themselves with the role of facilitator. We recommend the inclusion of this topic in the training courses for teachers.
