HALLAZGO DE LOBATOSMOMA RINGENS (LINTON, 1907) ECKMANN, 1932 (TREMATODA: ASPIDOGASTERIDAE) EN UMBRINA COROIDES CUVIER, 1830 (PISCES: SCIANIDAE) EN VENEZUELA

Abstract

RESUMEN: Un espécimen de Lobatostoma ringens (LINTON, 1907) Eckmann, 1932 fue hallado en el intestino de una “petota” (Umbrina coroides CUVIER, 1830) capturada en la Bahía de Mochima, Estado Sucre, Venezuela. Este parásito fue fijado en Bouin, teñido en acetocarmin de Semichon, aclarado en aceite de clavo y montado en bálsamo de Canadá. El ejemplar fue identificado con las claves de MAÑÉ-GARZÓN & HOLCMAN-SPENTOR (1976) y OLIVA & CARVAJAL (1984) y guarda semejanza morfológica y morfométrica con los descritos por CABALLERO-CABALLERO & BRAVO-HOLLIS (1965). L. ringens representa el primer reporte de esta especie para Venezuela, y U. coroides aumenta la lista de sciánidos que hospedan a este parásito, constituyendo el segundo registro de un aspidogástreo para el país. Se presenta una tabla comparativa de la especie estudiada. ABSTRACT: A specimen of Lobatostoma ringens (Linton, 1907) Eckmann, 1932 found in the intestine of a sand drum (Umbrina coroides Cuvier, 1830) captured in Mochima Bay, Sucre State, Venezuela, was fixed in Bouin’s solution, stained with Semichon’s acetocarmine, cleared in clove oil, and mounted on a glass slide using Canada balsam. The specimen was identified as L. ringens with the aid of the keys of Mañé-Garzón & Holcman-Spentor (1976) and Oliva & Carvajal (1984), and bears a morphological and morphometric similarity to those reported by Caballero y Caballero & Bravo Hollis (1965). This is the first report of L. ringens for Venezuela and the first report of the fish U. coroides as its host. This is also the second register of an aspidogaster for Venezuela. A comparative table for the species studied is presented.
