Siphodera vinaledwardsii (LINTON, 1901) LINTON, 1910 (DIGENEA: CRYPTOGONIMIDAE) EN Lutjanus mahogoni (CUVIER, 1828) DE LA BAHÍA DE MOCHIMA, ESTADO SUCRE, VENEZUELA

Abstract

RESUMEN: Veinte ejemplares de Siphodera vinaledwardsii fueron hallados en los ciegos intestinales e intestino de un pargo rosado Lutjanus mahogoni (Lutjanidae), capturado en la Bahía de Mochima. Los digéneos fueron fi jados, coloreados, dibujados, descritos e identifi cados. Se presenta una tabla comparativa de características morfológicas, morfométricas y otros datos de la especie. La presencia de un ovario lobulado, testículos ubicados en dos columnas laterales y folículos vitelinos sin sobrepasar el nivel acetabular, permitieron identifi car a los ejemplares encontrados como S. vinaledwardsii, la cual es la especie tipo. Lutjanus mahogoni vendría a ampliar la lista de hospederos para este tremátodo digéneo. ABSTRACT: Twenty specimens of Siphodera vinaledwardsii were found in the caeca gut and in the intestine of a Lutjanus mahogoni (Lutjanidae) specimen, caught in the Mochima Bay. These parasites were fi xed, stained, drawn, described and identifi ed. A comparative table with the morphological and morphometric characteristics, and other data of the species is shown. The presence of a lobulated ovary, testicles located in two lateral columns and vitelline follicles without exceeding the acetabular level in the investigated specimens, allowed us to rank them in the S. vinaledwardsii species, which is the species type. Thus, Lutjanus mahogoni should be added to the list of hosts for this digenetic trematode.
