MITHRACULUS CINCTIMANUS STIMPSON, 1860 Y SPELOEOPHORUS PONTIFER (STIMPSON, 1871) (CRUSTACEA: DECAPODA: BRACHYURA) DOS NUEVAS ADICIONES A LA CARCINOFAUNA VENEZOLANA

Abstract

RESUMEN: Se registra por primera vez en aguas marinas venezolanas la existencia de los cangrejos Brachyura Mithraculus cinctimanus y Speloeophorus pontifer y se presentan las características principales de los ejemplares capturados. Estos hallazgos amplían la distribución conocida de estas especies, incrementan a cinco el número de especies del género Mithraculus y establecen el primer registro del género Speloeophorus en Venezuela.ABSTRACT: The brachyuran crabs Mithraculus cinctimanus and Speloeophorus pontifer are reported for the first time for Venezuelan marine waters and main features of the specimens are given. This report adds to the knowledge of the distribution of these species and increases the number of species of the genus Mithraculus up to five known from Venezuela. This is also the first report of the genus Speleophorus for Venezuela.
