HALLAZGO DE BUCEPHALUS MARGARITAE OZAKI ET ISHIBASHI, 1934 (TREMATODA: BUCEPHALIDAE) EN EJEMPLARES DE SPHYRAENA PICUDILLA POEY,1860 (SPHYRAENIDAE) CAPTURADOS EN LA BAHÍA DE MOCHIMA, ESTADO SUCRE, VENEZUELA

Abstract

RESUMEN: Se encontraron 56 tremátodos digéneos en el estómago de diez “picuillas chinas”(Sphyraena picudilla Poey, 1860) capturadas en la Bahía de Mochima. Estos parásitos fueron fijados en Bouin, teñidos en acetocarmin de Semichon, aclarados en aceite de clavo y montados en bálsamo de Canadá. Los ejemplares se identificaron como pertenecientes a la especie Bucephalus margaritae Ozaki et Ishibashi, 1934, considerando las características morfométricas y corporales, en donde resalta el rhynchus con siete tentáculos retráctiles. Esta especie es cosmopolita, y utiliza preferentemente a peces de la familia Carangidae como hospederos definitivos. B. margaritae se registra por primera vez para la bahía de Mochima y el pez S. picudilla constituye un nuevo hospedero, por lo que con la presente investigación se amplían las zonas de localización geográfica y la lista de hospederos para este digéneo. Se presenta una tabla comparativa de la especie estudiada. ABSTRACT: Fifty-six digenean flukes were found in the stomach of 10 «picuillas chinas» (Sphyraena picudilla Poey, 1860) caught in Bahia de Mochima, Venezuela. The parasites were fixed in Bouin solution, stained with acetocarmin of Semichon, clarified in clove oil, and mounted in Canada balsam. The specimens were identified as belonging to the species Bucephalus margaritae Ozaki et Ishibashi, 1934 on the basis of morphometric and body characteristics, the rhyncus standing out with seven retractile tentacles. This species is cosmopolitan and favors fish belonging to the Carangidae family as a definitive host. This study constitutes a first Mochima Bay registry for B. margaritae as well as a new record for S. Picudilla as a host of the former, signaling a larger geographic scope for this trematode and its hosts.
