Abstract: | RESUMEN: Se identificó a una especie de camarón exótico capturado en el área de pesca Píritu - Barcelona. Cincoejemplares (dos machos y tres hembras) fueron identificados como Penaeus monodon el camarón tigre gigante. Las hembraspresentaron longitud total (Lt) entre 180 mm - 240 mm y peso de 55 a 70 g y los machos Lt entre 160 - 180 mm y de 25- 39 g. Se discuten algunas consecuencias sobre su presencia en el medio ambiente natural del Mar Caribe. ABSTRACT: One species identified as an exotic shrimp was captured in the Píritu - Barcelona fishing grounds. Fiveindividuals (two males and three females) were identified as Penaeus monodon, the giant tiger shrimp. The females had a totallength (TL) between 180 mm and 240 mm and weighed between 55 and 70 g, whereas the males measured between 160 mmand 180 mm TL and weighed between 25 and 39 g. Some consequences about the presence of this species in the naturalenvironment of the Caribbean Sea are discussed. |
