PRIMER REPORTE DEL TIBURÓN DALATIAS LICHA (BONNATERRE, 1788)(ELASMOBRANCHII: SQUALIFORMES: DALATIIDAE) PARA VENEZUELA Y EL MAR CARIBE

Abstract

RESUMEN: Dalatias licha ha sido señalada como una especie de amplia distribución, sin embargo, por primera vez esreportada para aguas venezolanas y el Caribe sur. Un ejemplar hembra (1,42 m Lt.) fue capturado incidentalmente a unaprofundidad de 240 m al noroeste de la Península de Macanao, Isla de Margarita. Aspectos de su distribución y morfometría sondiscutidos. ABSTRACT: Dalatias licha has been reported as a species with a wide geographical distribution. However, it is nowreported for Venezuelan and the southern Caribbean Sea waters for the first time. One female individual (1.42 cm TL.) wasincidentally captured at a depth of 240 m on the northeastern side of Macanao Peninsula, on Margarita Island. Some aspectsof its distribution and morphometry are discussed.
